Eucalyptus is a genus of tree that is found all over Australia. They dominate the tree flora in Australia and are there are over 700 species around the country.
There are also some species found in New Guinea, Indonesia, and some in the Philippines but it isn’t a tree that can tolerate frost so isn’t found in countries that suffer from this.

So with eucalyptus leaves being so prevalent particularly around Australia, can guinea pigs eat them?
Can guinea pigs eat eucalyptus leaves?
Unfortunately, they can’t. Eucalyptus leaves are poisonous to pets such as cats, dogs, and small animals including guinea pigs.
They just can’t handle the toxins which are in them, so it is not worth feeding them to your piggies.
If they do happen to nibble on them, then it will be worth consulting your veterinarian to check them over.
Often the clinical signs for a small animal eating eucalyptus is salivation, vomiting, diarrhea, depression, and weakness (source ASPCA)
